Golden Triangle with Diwali Tour

Celebrate India’s biggest festival “Deepawali” with Indian Local Family.

Deepavali is a festival of Hindus that signifies the victory of good over evil. This festival is celebrated exactly 20 days after the celebration of Dussehra another Hindu festival. On this day of Deepawali, Goddess for wealth and prosperity is worshipped. People illuminate their houses and streets with lights and earthen lamps to lighten up the night. “Deep” meaning earthen lamps justifies the sacredness of the festival.

The festival of lights continues for five long days. The first day of the festival is called Dhanteras. The second day is the “Chhoti Diwali”. Diwali falls on the third day while the fourth and fifth day of Deepavali is celebrated in different way in various parts of India. Deepavali falls on the day of Amavasya or the no moon night during the month of Ashwin of the Hindu calendar.

Itinerary

Day 1, 20 Oct: Homeland – Delhi Arrival

Arrival on your international flight, met by an Akbran representative for the transfer to your hotel and a briefing on the week ahead. Tip: if landing in the evening, keep this first night light — the itinerary's pace builds quickly from Day 2.

Day 2, 21 Oct: Delhi Local Sightseeing

A guided tour of New Delhi covering Humayun's Tomb (1586) — the garden-tomb design that would later inspire the Taj Mahal — and Qutub Minar, one of the most complete towers of its kind in the Persian architectural world. The Iron Pillar nearby has resisted rusting for over 1,500 years, a metallurgical feat still studied today. The day continues through the colonial-era Government buildings and Connaught Place before entering Old Delhi's walled city. Tip: comfortable shoes matter throughout this day — it covers more walking distance than any other single day on the trip.

Day 3, 22 Oct: Delhi – Jaipur Arrival

A roughly 5-hour drive to Jaipur, followed by dinner at an authentic Rajasthani restaurant with live folk dance. Tip: this is a good evening to pace yourself — Diwali celebrations are still two days away, and Day 4's Jaipur sightseeing is a full, active day.

Day 4, 23 Oct: Jaipur Local Sightseeing

Hawa Mahal photo stop followed by Amber Fort, the Rajput capital overlooking Moata Lake with ruins spread across the Aravalli hills. Tip: start early — this is one of the busiest single days of sightseeing on the itinerary.

Day 5, 24 Oct: Jaipur – Agra Arrival & Diwali Celebration with Local Indian Family

En route to Agra, a stop at Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's abandoned capital. That evening, you'll join a local Indian family for Diwali — the festival of lights marking the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, celebrated with prayer (Lakshmi Puja), lit oil lamps (diyas), and fireworks. Tip: this is a genuine home celebration, not a staged event — dress modestly and follow your host family's lead on when to join prayers versus when to simply observe.

Day 6, 25 Oct: Agra Local Sightseeing

A full day exploring the Taj Mahal and Agra's surrounding monuments — arguably the most photographed building in the world, and one that, by most visitor accounts, still exceeds expectations even after seeing countless images beforehand. Tip: after the previous night's Diwali celebration, this is a good day to start a little later if your group needs the rest — the Taj Mahal's afternoon light has its own appeal even if you miss sunrise.

Day 7, 26 Oct: Agra – Delhi Airport – Homeland

Checkout and the drive back to Delhi, with the day left free for last-minute shopping before the transfer to the airport for your international departure. Tip: Delhi's Khan Market or Connaught Place are convenient last-stop shopping options if your driver has flexibility built into the day's routing.
