Itinerary

Day 1 – Delhi to Agra (200 km / 4 hrs)

Depart Delhi early morning, passing India Gate, Qutub Minar, and Humayun's Tomb en route. Qutub Minar, begun in 1193, marks the start of Muslim rule in Delhi — at 73 metres it's the tallest brick minaret in the world, and its five stacked storeys chart the changing architectural styles of the sultans who each added a level over more than a century. Humayun's Tomb, built decades later by a grieving widow for her husband, is often called the first true garden-tomb of Mughal India — the design that would eventually be perfected in the Taj Mahal. On arrival in Agra, visit Agra Fort, the red-sandstone stronghold from which the Mughal Empire was actually governed for generations. Tip: comfortable shoes matter here — Agra Fort's courtyards and stairways are uneven, and the walking adds up across a day that already includes three major stops. Overnight in Agra.

Day 2 – Agra to Jaipur (240 km / 5 hrs)

Sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal — built by Emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth in 1631. The white marble was chosen deliberately to shift color through the day, and the tomb's perfect symmetry reflects the Mughal idea of paradise as an ordered garden. Tip: security screening bans food, tripods, and power banks — carry only camera and ID. The monument is closed every Friday, so confirm your Day 2 doesn't fall on one before booking. After breakfast, continue to Jaipur with a stop at Fatehpur Sikri — Akbar's purpose-built capital, abandoned after only 14 years when its water supply failed, leaving one of the best-preserved Mughal ghost cities in India. Tip: there's little shade here, so carry water and dress for the heat. Arrive Jaipur by evening; overnight stay.

Day 3 – Jaipur to Delhi (280 km / 5 hrs)

Morning at Amber Fort, the Rajput capital that predates Jaipur itself, known for the Sheesh Mahal — a hall where a single candle, reflected across thousands of tiny mirror fragments, could light the entire room without electricity. Tip: the walk up involves uneven stone stairs; a jeep or elephant option is available to the entrance if you'd rather skip the climb — ask your guide the day before, since slots fill fast in peak season. Continue to City Palace, Jantar Mantar — the 18th-century observatory built by Jaipur's founder, Maharaja Jai Singh II, whose sundial remains accurate to about two seconds — and Hawa Mahal, built so royal women could watch the streets below without being seen, a design solution to the purdah customs of the era. Free time for shopping in Jaipur's bazaars before the evening drive back to Delhi. Tip: bargaining is standard practice in these markets — expect to negotiate down from the first quoted price.
